Welcome!

The Hungarian Motion Pictures Accessibility Program (AMMP) is a movement that aims to extend motion picture services to be consumable by the blind, deaf, visually impaired, or hard of hearing.

There are over 83,000 visually impaired and 64,000 blind people living in Hungary who cannot really "see" movies. We would like to help them by doing the following:

  • Take the acclaimed movies of Hungarian film history and create a new audio track for them, where a narrator describes the action between dialogues.
  • If needed, we create subtitles in order for the deaf and hard of hearing to be able to enjoy the movies.
  • The accessible DVDs get Braille covers, then are made available free of charge to the members of public organizations.
  • We push for a change in the media laws, so that it extends the accessibility requirements of audio-visual materials to the blind and visually impaired.
  • We lobby for full accessibility requirements in the Hungarian film production and distribution, and the availability of local and EU tenders which would enable conformity to these requirements.

Film director Peter Timar is the founder and creative manager of the program. In the past 30 years, he has written and directed such renowned movies, as "Blind Guys", "Csinibaba", "Zimmer Feri", "Csapd le Csacsi", "6:3", and "Casting Minden".

Our program does not have a legal entity yet, it is still a civil movement, and uses our small business for production services. Soon, we will form into a non-profit entity, so that we may apply for local and EU funds and tenders, as well as receive donations. In the meantime, you can still support us by funding the accessibility work of a movie.
